Hi, I'm in a bit of a confusion. I have a website that has top 5, 10 and 20 lists about different topics. My traffic is about 1500 - 3000 people a day out of which about 1000 is search engine traffic. I have about 360 posts and I started this site in the mid of last year.

A person started a very similar website in the beginning of the year. I am SURE that my content is much better an my content involves a lot of research whereas his ratings are not accurate. HOWEVER. On alexa, he is way ahead of me now. I tried to analyze where his traffic was coming from...it is primarily...Google. I did some analysis on his links and found out that he has got lots of links from side bars and footers of websites in the 'Our Friends' or Blogroll section. However, he does not have links to any of these websites on his own site, which means these are not link exchanges, they are infact one way backlinks. I CANNOT understand how to get such links!!! The only options that I can think of is, that he has paid these websites to put his links up.

What say you all. If you want, I can give you the website names as well
