So Many Losers Stealing Products

I can't tell which is the original anymore. :D I obviously don't want to promote a product that's been stolen because the person who stole it won't know how to help affiliates and worse, they're shady to begin with.

Especially in the niche I'm trying to move into. A product launches then a week later there is a clone with the same site and product on a different domain.

    Please stop :)

P.S. If you launch a product please start a PRE-LAUNCH thread here or on other webmaster forums so we know who came first and who is a weasley clone.

    What are you implying?

The funny thing is.... you came in the thread trying to snarky but all you succeeded in doing was putting your low reading comprehension level on display for everyone :(

Read what I wrote again and see if you can spot what I mean :) Are you perhaps one of the people I'm talking about?

Right I was only joking anyway and I was implying that products going into the same niche are not always a bad thing as you yourself are going into a niche which has competitors.

Please point out if I missed something.

Sure thing. What I was describing in my original post was the outright theft of products. People are buying products, immediately refunding them, then copying the person's design and setting it up on a new domain and promoting it.

And when I said the niche I'm moving into I was talking about the niche I'm moving into as an affiliate, not my vendor product. You just assumed that. I went on to describe how I don't want to promote a product for someone who stole the product in the first place.

Why would you think I was calling people who create similar products shady? I thought it was pretty obvious I was talking about thieves, hence the thread title.

My apologies for assuming you were accusing me of stealing.

To be honest it seemed as if you were pissed off at something so I thought you may have been exaggerating with the stolen just that you dont like people jumping into the same niche, like all these farmvilles and cafevilles popping up. As soon as someone finds some potential in a market everyone will come in with similar products.

anyway no harm no foul I do agree with you about blatant theft though.

Yeah its sucks but thats internet marketing for you, when someone has found a hot niche you can guarantee that people will jump on the bandwagon and make duplicate products, all major companies do it ,you just have to look at how many iPod clones there are!!

The reason for this is the ease with which you can sell any digital product online.

To sell an ebook, all you need is a Nice Sales Page & the Right Traffic. If you have good SEO skills or the money to invest in PPC, you are better placed than all other "talented" guys out there.

I agree, those cafeville products came out so fast after the original!

Atleast with e4e I got about 3 weeks to make my mark on the niche.

One lawsuit by an original e-book author would change this pretty quickly...

I guess its the CB dog eat dog world we live in.

But guys there is a lesson to be learned here, whenever you come out with a product, dont come out half ass..come out with all guns blazing, a compelling sales copy, eye catching graphics, materials for your affiliates, in other words,.... you set bar so darm high that your those following you will hang themselves meeting the standards you have set.

Its not that hard, too, I was thinking of copying someone else product too.

A few months ago I was going through some new niches in CB market place and stumbled upon a few that are promising and I was like OMG, with my IM background and skills I know I can do much better with the sales copy and landing page or a certain product. Anyhow I did not follow through, I did however send off a few emails to a vendor who had terrible grammar on the sales page to make some correction which he did.

The point is......when you are first in any market...bring it on!

Couldn't it just be people with Master Resale Rights to products or PLR are putting up their sites on similiar domains. How do you know someone is stealing and then putting up a website?

I am new to the forum and was prompted to join by this thread. We came to the clickbank market in 2002 with a range of binaural frequency products - World of Alternatives/Mind Sync (nothing new about the concept as hemi sync and holosync had been creating commercial binaurals for years). Our point of difference was that we developed binaurals for specific entrainment using specific dominant frequencies. We did lots of research into the products.
    Our first copier came along 2 years later; copied our products, copied our body text, copied our images even had the cheek to put them up for sale on Clickbank. The next 2 copiers were not far behind. We chased up with copyright lawyers, etc and eventually got some compensation in distributor fees. Unfortunately the copying continued and we did not have the resources to keep chasing them. By 2006 we had pretty much given up. Since then we have found that pretty much everything has been copied through Clickbank - our keyword marketing strategy, our body copy being paraphrased over and over; our images; our customer support website;
The most galling is when a copier comes along and takes most of the market share. This happened with one of our affiliates. They didn't directly rip off our products but paraphrased our body copy and duplicated our marketing strategy.
In 2007 we launched a new product range using isochronic brainwave entrainment ( Meditation Power). I noticed today that this has also been copied.
The point made earlier is correct. If you have a new product; come out with all guns blazing. The clones are getting faster and more unscrupulous.
