    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

So I've got a fun MySpace Product! What do I do now?!?!?!?

I have an idea for a MySpace Product, and I'm almost done with the website, but I haven't picked up a name for it yet. Does the name really matter? Should I put "myspace" in it somehow?

    How should I advertise?

    Just post bulletins? Comments, etc...?

Should I purchase advertising on other myspace related sites?

How should I go about this?

BTW, it's a very viral product...

I would like to give my $0.02 on myspace marketing.

mysapce marketing is a joke. myspace marketing is not worth the time nor effort when there are significantly more lucrative investments in time and money that you can make to develop your business.

myspace is a spam-haven and people are "turned-off" to being receptive of ads and products they come across or are force-fed.

why would you spend so much time and money marketing on myspace when you could be using that same time and energy (and probably money) attacking real players in your vertical and trying to gain lucrative contracts.

you might make $50-$500 off myspace IF YOU ARE VERY LUCKY

you might make a living putting that same time and energy into real segments...you might make a living that way if you are lucky.

    thanks for hearing me out

I don't know, I've got a friend who makes over $100 every day from marketing his affiliate site through bulletins on myspace...

Do you have any experience to back up your statement? Did you advertise on there before? Do you have past experiences?

You don't even know what I'm marketings. It is a tool for myspace users that doesn't exist. So let me ask you this, Where am I supposed to advertise for this product that is for MySpace users without advertising on MySpace? Yeah, no! That doesn't work out so well.

Just give it up, can anyone else help me out? Has anyone done anything similar to this and have had success?

    Thanks!

Depends on what your product is...are you sure its going to be a huge hit? is it something people will like or is it just annoying spam, trackers, etc.

Try doing bulletins first, run friend adder software. I have couple myspace related sites with 50k-100k impressions a day so if you want to advertise PM me.

Well he probably just wants to see what your idea is and then might steal it.

Chuck - sounds like you've got a good strategy. Bulletins, comments,
friends would all be good. Go direct to your target market!

Buying ads on MySpace related sites (layouts and such) will also get
your product in front of the right eyeballs. If it's viral, you'll have no
    trouble getting an audience.

As for the name, I remember a while back MySpace was cracking down
on products and websites using their trademark. Just in case they do
plan on doing it, I'd avoid using the word "MySpace" specifically.

Yeah, I was thinking about the myspace part in the name, and just to play it safe, I won't do that. I'll keep everything on the up 'n up.

What types of products are viral on MySpace? What can you share that will create a buzz? Ive done some cartoons, animation, article writing, web/template designing, and game development...

Any other ideas of viral content I can use to create a buzz for my website or offerings on MySpace?

thanx in advance, by the way...

NO! It is not anywhere near that idea... MySpace trackers aren't unique at all, there are thousands of them, and they do not work, and everyone knows that.

This idea doesn't exist, trust me. But what about auto commenting, should I do that? Or is it too spammy?

And @charlesartist: Stop trying to hijack this thread! The question was how to promote the viral product on MySpace, not what products I can make/steal from people to market on MySpace. If you want to learn how to do that/what products are good for that, make a new thread. Thanks!

Someone I know has pulled over 30k a month from there for a short period of time, of course he was being fairly aggressive... What I do know is there is a Volume of traffic and people there...to say the least.

and I guess some of them have credit cards and like to buy stuff :)

The 'what' that stuff is, and the 'how' to present it is where the magic exists.
