' ment to say big guys in the subject line. I am fat fingered today! '

Ok first I am not trashing Fox News but I found something interesting on their site today. They sell ad space and links on their website. I noticed this today

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,297259,00.html

Check out where it says ' Buy a link here '

kind of a double standard wouldn't you say so?

Perhap you might want to remember that most established businesses are not beholden to Google

Yahoo directory, fox news, Ebay, have no interest whatsoever in Googles webmaster guidlines, they do their own thing

Those "links" are ads served through a Fox advertising system. I'd be pretty certain that they don't pass any link juice, and would be of little to no concern to any of the engines.

Not a double standard at all. The engines are not concerned with selling text link based advertising, they're against selling text links in an effort to manipulate your search rankings.

Nothing to see here, move along.

They are javascript links nothing is passed but traffic.
Directories should go the javascript route also and you guys wouldn't even need to setup trackers since no traffic would actually pass through them ;)
