Okay here's the deal. I've been running a 200,000/day pageview photo gallery site for some time now and have had good success I guess. However, I got greedy and then started plastering every page in the gallery with adsense. Since I did that the past month, despite my traffic, my earnings have spiraled down. Is it true that the higher your ad impressions, the lower your earnings despite whether I am getting the same number of clicks? Should I cut back on the ad impressions and only put them on maybe every other page instead of every page?
It's called smart pricing. When your ads start converting less well, google pay you less. Basically. I hate it too.
really smart, what a logic..I hate this too..Im gonna cut back when i find the time..at least im gonna cut back down to 1 ad per page instead of 2 or 3.. speaking of which when a visitor comes to a page with 3 ad units does it count as 1 or 3 imps??
Can anyone confirm this is actually true? I can’t see the logic of it, and as far as I thought I knew smart pricing was something different.
Smart pricing has nothing to so with your CTR. it depends on the conversion on the advertiser end. You might have a site with high page impressions and very low CTR but if the visitors convert well for the advertiser you'll get more money per click. on the other hand if you have a high CTR but poor conversion you'l get less money per click.
