Came across this - http://www.pcworld.com/businesscent...gle_denied_claim_to_ooglecom_domain_name.html So does that mean someone can up this Doodle.com too?
They made a claim for oogle.com because the domain is basically a typo of google.com. "oogle" gets nearly 250k EXACT searches a month- 99% of those people are no doubt looking for google. The url type-in traffic of oogle.com would be pretty high too (they have an alexa rank of around 100k- not bad for a site with nothing on it). Google had a pretty strong case in trying to getting oogle.com transferred over to them. If the owners of oogle.com actually wanted to make some money off the domain, they should of dressed up the page like the real google and put some ads around. Either that or park the page. But then again, if they did that, I guess Google would have a strong case against them for cyber-squatting. Doodle.com would be a totally different case. Someone would have to seriously f**k up their spelling if they typed doodle, but were really trying to get to google. Both doodle and oodle are also real words so Google has no right to those domains.
interestingly enough, they have another typo domain ashleyrnadison.com in their downstream sites, according to alexa
That is pretty strange. Maybe all the visitors that come to oogle.com are either all dyslexic or illiterate Jokes aside, I don't think I can really explain that one- Maybe they had ads on the site. But why link to the typo version of AshleyMadison? Maybe it was an inside joke by the webmasters.
I type in foogle.com at least 20 times a week - Just a suggestion for u folks; thats if foogle isnt taken yet which i highly doubt it isnt
Hi There, I just wanted to let you know that the ashleyrnadison was not a typo, that a specialiazed page that you can view not meant for the general public. Its for a mature audience. Hope that helps. feel free to contact me if you have further questions at
I just checked out oogle.com again today and was quite surprised. The guy has turned the site into a CPA survey site. I am pretty shocked that this guy was allowed to keep this domain. This is the finest example of cyber-squatting you are ever likely to see, yet it goes unpunished... Google must be going ape right now considering the amount of type-in traffic the site gets from people wanting to go to google.com instead. Its also kind of funny that google has now deindexed oogle.com (it used to be indexed before this case) . Not that it will make much difference to oogle's traffic, considering oogle probably gets all its traffic from type-ins.
