So I wrote like a 300 page e-book about investing in domains (very detailed)

It's completed, took me forever, use/cite a lot of referrences, go into deep detail from step 1 to sale 1, tricks of the trade, etc

What can I do with it? I don't want to sell it here for $1/copy, nor do I want to make a web site to sell it, any opinions?

Maybe there isn't anything useful for it

SunHunter: Why write a e-book if you don't want to sell?

In my opinion, you should take this approach:

    1. Figure out how much you should sell the book for (base price = $x, see next point)
    2. Create a new sales thread here (and later at other related forums). Offer few review copies if you feel like it. Don't keep the price constant. Start it at say $x for the first 10 buyers, then $x+10 etc. for the next 10 buyers and so on

Have confidence in your product. If you don't believe in it, how can the buyers be?

It doesn't really look like a "book" though. It works good as a reference to learn how to use different domain related sites, manage purchasing, selling, etc

I just wrote it as a referrence, and for a few of my friends. Actually because one of them wanted to invest some money with me in domains, I offfered to create a 2 page outline of how it all works so he could understand it - lead to me continuing into hundreds of pages.

I woud still have to fine tune it if I were to sell it. I just don't know if this place would market me much of an income for it.

I think Jenn can help you with that. But I'm pretty sure that there will be takers here who will pay good money for what you've written. And yeah, fine tune it first. Do some hardcore editing on it and have somebody read it. A friend will do. When you're satisfied, it's time that you sell it. :) good luck!

I have the same. Are you allowed to sell ebooks on here? Which thread would they be put in?

Considering the interest in domain investment that I've seen around the web, you should be able to do well with this project. You've done the hardest part of the job already, for goodness sake! Hire someone (if you don't know how) to pretty it up and format it properly, proofread/edit as needed and create/have created a cover.

DigitalPoint is definitely not the only place you can sell your product.

I can "pretty" it up and make a great sales pitch just fine, and am not in need of assistance from anyone else. I just want to get an idea of my options that I have to utilize the ebook for a financial bonus.

You could sell it with master resell rights to a single buyer, then that buyer could do whatever they wanted. Of course, it would have a very high price tag.

Another option is to sell it through affiliates. Clickback and PayDotCom are some of the affiliate management sites I hear about a lot.

You can always sell and market it yourself. Set a price for it, make a sales page, and market it. If you want to go that route (or the affiliate route), I recommend you read Desperate Buyers Only. It's a great book that tells you how to sell information products to "desperate buyers." I'd say your ebook definitely falls in that category.

Latoya, that was the kind of thing I am thinking about, not the affiliates but to a single person.

I can factor what a single person would pay but if that is based on current content creation rates on this forum, it's a joke what I will get paid. So I have to figure out:

$x per coy X how many people?
    vs
    $xxx for a single copy

Also, it isn't really easy to find those one person buyers is it?

I definitely wouldn't use what I see on DP as a pricing guide and would lean more toward $X,XXX or even $XX,XXX for that book. There are plenty of high-priced deals going on here, they just aren't being posted out in the open.

If you haven't had the book edited, you should factor that into the price because the buyer will probably need to have the ebook edited before selling it.

I would also spend some time posting in threads on buying and selling domains, not auctions, but threads asking for advice and information. Establish yourself as someone who knows everything there is to know about investing in domains. Then, when you're ready to sell your book, you'll have built some reputation and it will be easier to command a reasonable price.

I really appreciate that latoya, the kind of advice I am looking for here. I think the idea of joining forums and becoming known as the domain guru is a great idea.

I also value my book at mid four figure range to sell with full rights to only one person, but I don't really know who/where to do that.

    Thanks a lot guys!

If you want to make the most money either sell the ebook rights, sell it yourself (with or without website) or use clickbank/similar program

Simon, is that a community of which I would be capable of selling just one copy with full rights or do you mean to sell to a wide variety of people at a much lower price? If that would be the case, I think it's best for me to:

    - Join every webmaster/domain/money related forum with a marketplace and post it for sale
    - Make my own web site to make it even better presented

Thanks again for all the input!

Best option - make your own website and then post it on all forums

My advice to you would be that if a published author contacts you to offer you a free proofreading and editing of your manuscript along with advice etc that you might do well to heed, since I have family for many years in the book publishing trade, you would do a lot better not to instantly via pm, tell that poster to F OFF, without knowing anything about the poster that is offering to give you their assistance without any charge.

You might want to take a lesson upon how to write more politely when other professionals offer you their help from their very many years of experience in the business, industry contacts etc.

How Not To Respond In A Positive Manner To Offers of Assistance by Sunhunter - Just maybe you want to write that one as well, hmmm?

Please do not write and tell me to F OFF again.

I never told you to "f off" and why does eveyone on this forum result to namecaling and flaming someone if they don't like what they hear? I am not offering free reviews of my eBook, I have friends that are also published authors who can proofread and edit it for me already.

Prove I said F OFF and I will apologize, even though you called me a bloody idiot...

It's probably a community which u can sell a lot of copies at a price in any range, from $1 to $150

I don't know about selling an exclusive rights thing though
