i finally made a blog, at blogger i chose a basic template, and i want to tweak it are there some ready made tweaks/designs? or do i have to code it?
LOL...duh... i keep doing that..where's that googleityoumoronpage when you need it !! i have this tendancy to use google for 'who ranks where and why'...not for actually finding anything thanks for the link, after looking at some templates i think i am going to stick with the basic one
but one thing most of them don't do is make the blog titles clickable and that's really annoying for the people reading your blog. Here's the answer!
nice one Sarahk, i am going to try and apply that in a minute. Do i need to then set up a hyperlink class for the thread title or does it pick up a default? (seeing as it was not initially linked)
i have the first part working, but had to change your code to do so.. there are a couple of spaces that stopped it working in front of < $BlogItemTitle$> i just changed it to <$BlogItemTitle$> was the space supposed to be there? i am trying the second part now. James
all done...thanks Sarah one more thing can i use the <br> tag in this code? or is that non compliant? i read something about using a 'hard break'?? whatever that is
I worte a good article on how to edit a blogger template, includes screenshots, etc...http://www.blog-hints.com/article02.php
i there anything on your site about what to do after you have a blog? i have one now...and have no idea how to get it seen...on the blog circuit. i have to ping it or something? or trade it around the blog circuit? or does it need feeding? edit, i just managed to add it to my DP profile (above) This place is great
You have to ping, but often pings are only acted upon if you have already manually submitted your blog so it pays to go round each of the sites included in the ping service and ensure that a manual ping will work. A right pain! but essential. Then it's the same old story of submit to directories, get inbound links. One thing about blogs is that people are more likely to link to something you've said - but your writing has to be up to it. And of course you can wander round posting comments on other people's blogs - but try to find something decent to say and not just add to the huge amount of blog spam ('specially when Akismet can get you)
