So i need to make downloading files from my site/server faster

    Yo everyone

Ive been recieving some complaints/feedback that the download speed on my site is too sloooowwwwwwww.

I test it myself and at night i download at about 60k/s, late at night, mornings its around 300kb/s

Im guessing my site is basically getting high traffic and load issues in the evenings. (average daily bandwidth is around 200-300gb)

So basically i need to rectify this pronto.

    What are the possible solutions??

i thought if i bought a second cheaper server that could step in when the load gets too much for my primary server this could help out the speeds.

Am i correct, are there cheaper ways of speeding things up?

    Thanks

can you tell me your current service provider? its location and which port you are hosted?
because without it no one can tell what wrong with speed

    Thanks

My instinct tells me it could be a problem with your ISP.. some ISP give crap speed during the night. That is the peak hour as well. :)

Certainly seems like an upgrade of hosting/ servers would be appropriate. Additional details would also be helpful for more specific advice.

I used to have a couple of servers with FDC, up until a few months back and had the same speed problems as you are experiencing. It seemed to me that FDC were more interested in the the amount of customers they could acquire rather than quality of service for the customers that they have. In the end I dumped them and went with another provider :(

Probably best to find another host if it really is a bandwidth/network issue. Otherwise, you may be able to speed up the site through other optimizations. I managed to cut the load times of my site by roughly 80% via some simple methods.

Ive had the best experience speed wise with liquidweb and softlayer - they are based in the US and im in NZ, i get 500KB/s + which is better than local speeds

    Hi

    Ok here’s a speedtest file

    http://www.beatplexity.com/10MBtest.zip

I have now install MRTG so i can now get some decent stats on my server. Let me know what stats you need as i dont have a clue what it all means

Last night FDC servers upgraded me to a 1gbit line. Im supposedly to be able to push 30-50mbit peak times and 200mb off peak times

Let me know how you get on

I can’t see any difference in speed since I’ve upgraded
