After reading everyone's posts, is it better to create my own blog and Stumble/Digg it? What's next? Suggestions?
It depends on what do you want to do. If you're looking for backlinks, treat it as you would any article service. Or, attempt to get some affiliate sales through it. It's kind of like a complement to a blog or site.

Thank you! My lense is about taking advantage of credit card benefits and perks. I basically broke down the fine print (e.g. purchase protection, car rental insurance, etc). I love learning about taking advantage of the system. I'm most knowledgeable about credit cards. I work for an online credit card directory, so my goal was to create a buzz for my company.
Ok - you should also look at creating something on Hubpages for it. You can't create more than one backlink to the same place there, but you will get a much higher cut in the Adsense pay than on Squidoo, and that topic (credit cards) can have an occasional high paying click from time to time. So, basically you can use Hubpages like an article submission site, which you can also monetize for yourself.
Making a Lens is a great place to get some more traffic to your site. Google Ranks Squidoo very highly. I have so far created 8 Lens. But it wasn't until I had gotten my-linker.com/hop/SquidooCashMachine that it really helped my Lens ranking currently #16 you can see here squidoo.com/money-siphon. Also too make sure you have done your Keyword research.

Squidoo lenses are great because they can get picked up and ranked in the search engine really fast. Stumble and Digg your lens. Try to get others to do it also. You should also add your lens to several groups on Squidoo. I have created several lenses and it has bee a good source of extra traffic and inbound links to the sites I am linking them to. Check my signature links for a few of my lenses.
I use Squidoo lenses as an arm of my other marketing efforts, if I have a very small individual product to market, I will simply make a Squidoo lens for it rather than bother my subscribers or blog visitors.
