So I have researched my keywords - how long until google starts sending me traffic?

Ive been doing some keyword research, and have identified about 5-10 keywords and phrases that are what I consider a good compromise between search volume and advertiser competition. Ive gone back through my content and started ensuring those keywords were being used. Ive also created some new content that is url-addressable using some of the keywords Ive discovered. then I regenerated my google sitemap and resubmitted it to google.

Ok, so my question is - how or when can I tell if my new content and/or keyword efforts will show up in googles index when doing a search? In other words, how do I start to verify the results of my efforts?

That is a really good question... the thing is you can never be 100% when.. it depends on google.. sometimes it takes days sometimes months to index the new version of your website..
Don't forget it's not enough to choose the keyword and put it in your text.. you should make some good backlinks to your website in ancor text with your keywords..

it depends on you, on your pages. If you add new pages so often, google will send you traffics faster. So don't focus days or weeks, focus on new pages. It is my logic, and i tested with my sites. New pages, more chance for traffic. But there is others solutions....good luck

Somewhere between 15 minutes aand never.
Ask yourself - does the google algorithm really have reason to believe that your site is the most relevant source for a given search query?
And I notice that backlinks and anchor text didn't figure in your post - without them it's going to have to be a very obscure/niche keyword to get results
