So How Is The Ringtone Market?

Discussion in 'Affiliate Programs' started by BusinessEmpire, Dec 12, 2006.

I know many of you are promoting ringtones. How is it going for you so far? Is the market too saturated? A year or two from now do you think people will still sign up to purchase ringtones?

I am trying to figure out if I should create a new website dedicated to ringtones.

I make ok money promoting ringtones, but I feel I could be doing more.

Just trying to get some opinions.

    Thanks

last I heard there were too many legal issues regarding ringtone sites and sponsors so I don't push or promote them all that much really.

you can still make money in promoting mortgage programs and website hosting.
if you can out SEO or out promote your competition everything is possible.

do your research. check search engine results and PPC, etc etc.

Well at MaxBounty we have a bunch of ringtone offers and they do really well for most. That being said, not every thing works for every one! If you're making money with it already and you want to keep going in the same direction then go for it. Focus more on it, get more campaigns, do what you need to do to actively promote the ringtones more.

I was told by CPALEAD.com that maxbounty stiffed them on a little over 12 grand one month... the reason I haven't been using them. any truth to this?

You should always take these one-sided comments of non-payment with a grain of salt. There is a short history between CPALead and MaxBounty.com. We've emailed them asking to post a clarification to this thread to set things straight but did not receive a reply so we have to put forth our official comment. I had a long reply all written out, but it kind of came out harsh, so I've edited it down.

I don't know what they said to whom, but the short story is there was extreme quality issues with the leads from their roll-playing-game affiliates. Two merchants complained of complete and outright fraudulant leads. I saw the data and 100% agreed with the advertisers (people I've known as trustworthy for years). These two sponsors reversed all leads generated by cpalead.com. We removed them as a partner from our network within the month, with the promise they would receive payment from any other merchant who did not complain. No one else did, so they received payment for the balance of their account.

If the thread gets ugly, we'll share all the unpleasant details, but I'd rather leave it at this.
