I had'nt yet got my own server (Have now) and had my sites spread around on various hosts. Thank god On the weekend, one host had his server hacked, all backups currupted and then admitted to me that he had lied about having any external back ups fitted. Some one had fitted a free dating script with an exploit I have lost about 15 dynamic sites, even though I had some stuff backed up I hadnt worried too much as host had boasted about his security, and also its difficult with dynamic sites that have frequent content and scripts Two companies are no more so cant get the scripts again I have searched the net-and from what I can tell- I cant do anything about this lying host. He has also now addmitted-he dosent even have biz insurance.lol I asked, have emails assuring me etc-what more could I have done to protect myself than this-Anyone?
I understand some web hosts are work are being operated by some or a few people and are not really registered companies... although being so, they should also make sure about their servers security... but being honest to you is good enough...
Hmm had they been 'honest' in the first place and not lied about having external backups-I would never have used them. Thats the bit that really gets me...
