Links from wikipedia, uncyclopedia and nofollow blogs, do these help at all? I remember Matt Cutts said that the Googlebot now ENTIRELY ignores these. But at the same time, I've heard people say that they only count for SERPs if they have your keyword as the anchor key. But if Matt said they are completely ignored, isn't that wrong? Are those people who say that just misinformed? Oh, and I'm talking about Google exclusively, ignoring all the other SEs.
Well first of all Google does not ignore them. It counts them as backlinks if you use Google webmaster tools. Secondly it looks like one of my competitors is overtaking me even though most of their links are nofollow. So i guess you could argue they do help a little. But they definitely won't hurt.
An important point to keep in mind is that people follow nofollow links. A well placed link that bots do not follow will still be seen, and clicked, by people. And there is a good chance if a person clicks, the traffic generated will be "quality" as they seemingly have/had an interest in your anchor text.
Agreed with the above post. Don't worry too much about whether or not links are follow or nofollow. Well placed links will be seen by real people.
