2 weeks ago while working on some of my sites (I have a little over 40 websites) my server crashed and wouldn't even boot anymore (raid5 scsi's, 2 of the 4 drives died and the 4th drive wouldn't pick up the slack and rebuild, long story). Awful timing for it, as I had to leave for vacation (my wedding actually) 2 days later. I brought the server back to where I bought it nearby to try and get it fixed, and now I'm back home 2 weeks later and the server is still not fixed. In a nutshell, I've been down 2 weeks and I know all my SEO work, rankings, Google-loving, and income are utterly shot to hell as a result. Once I do get my sites all back online (some time in the next week) what on earth can I do to recover and get back in the good graces of the engines (especially Goooooogle)? I've never experienced anything like this before and have just an overall feeling of doom and misery
Yikes... I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I have no idea how you're going to go about fixing it. I guess the lesson learned is that having a backup on a separate machine is an absolute must. Good luck!
Yeah, I have all the data, that's not the problem... just haven't been in town (cancelling my wedding and honeymoon wasn't gonna happen) and don't have another extra $6k high horsepower server sitting around to run my network off of. Kinda sucks, the whole point of having a server like this (multiple power supplies, 4 scsi's in a raid5, etc, etc) was to hopefully prevent things like this.
Offline for two weeks is not too big of a deal. If you get it back up and running soon, I don't think you'll miss much. Backlinks should still be in place and the engines don't drop pages that fast. Cheer up, you just got married!
