So depressed... major downtime recovery, how!?!

2 weeks ago while working on some of my sites (I have a little over 40 websites) my server crashed and wouldn't even boot anymore (raid5 scsi's, 2 of the 4 drives died and the 4th drive wouldn't pick up the slack and rebuild, long story). Awful timing for it, as I had to leave for vacation (my wedding actually) 2 days later. I brought the server back to where I bought it nearby to try and get it fixed, and now I'm back home 2 weeks later and the server is still not fixed. In a nutshell, I've been down 2 weeks and I know all my SEO work, rankings, Google-loving, and income are utterly shot to hell as a result.

Once I do get my sites all back online (some time in the next week) what on earth can I do to recover and get back in the good graces of the engines (especially Goooooogle)? I've never experienced anything like this before and have just an overall feeling of doom and misery :(

Yikes... I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I have no idea how you're going to go about fixing it.

I guess the lesson learned is that having a backup on a separate machine is an absolute must.

    Good luck!

Yeah, I have all the data, that's not the problem... just haven't been in town (cancelling my wedding and honeymoon wasn't gonna happen) and don't have another extra $6k high horsepower server sitting around to run my network off of. Kinda sucks, the whole point of having a server like this (multiple power supplies, 4 scsi's in a raid5, etc, etc) was to hopefully prevent things like this. :( :( :(

Offline for two weeks is not too big of a deal. If you get it back up and running soon, I don't think you'll miss much. Backlinks should still be in place and the engines don't drop pages that fast.

Cheer up, you just got married! :D
