I basically told a friend of mine that I would help him out online, I think I gave him the impression that I was going to do it ALL for him, which may be my fault, but I set it clear for him in a conversation a few minutes ago. Here's how it went. So I offer to help him and point him in the direction of one of the number one resources for the biz and he has nothing else to say besides peace faggot. I was kind of surprised, I mean... what did he expect? Did he think I'd sit at his house and do all the work while he sat there and made money? This is the problem when you hang around people who don't have any drive, they expect you to walk them through the hard times so they can slack off. They have a one track mind and it all leads to them, take take and take. Well sorry pal, you don't have what it takes to make money in this business, and if you expect anyone to carry the weight for you while offering nothing in return you are insane.
Yeah, some people do like to leach on those who have something that they lack. Sure I have bugged people about getting help with certain things as a n00b , but I always thought it ethical to give some payment where it's due. If you want something but don't put in any effort, then it just shows that you're not serious enough to make anything happen.
This is quite common. There are a lot of people out there who have no idea of the value of a web developer's time, and who basically just want you to teach them all you know, for free. You can tell them where they can read everything they need to know, because it's not as though everything you need to get started can't be found online somewhere. If they can't be bothered to make the extra step of actually reading something, then they just aren't cut out to do this stuff.
All I want to say is that there are mainly two types of people.1)Who are just there to ask question just for the sake of it.2)There are others who are serious of what they say and ask. They are genuine enough to deal with your time.
He knows nothing about computers and wants to make money on the internet. No chance at all. If he could write then he could become a content writer but it looks like thats out.
Is there an average take for content writers, on a per diem basis? I've actually looked only a bit into this - and will do the research - but do you have any sources on how one gets started doing this?
Thanks, Mad. I did a search on the forum but did not specifically find info on what you are looking for (though did see you received some positive nods). Do you have a thread there? If so, can you provide the link?
some one new wants to spend more of time with personal explanation rather then message boards, there are many lazy ppl around, but when knows that this is such a intresting website he would love to participate here for sure
You got me there, lol. I can't just ignore him though, he's a friend, well atleast I think he is. He's just the kind of person who wouldn't take a second look at this place. I guess he thinks there is some sort of website where you can find a lesson that tells you everything you need to do, like it's that simple. He's pretty much ignorant about this stuff, and I don't think he has the entrepreneurial drive.
Are you sure? His behaviour doesn't seem very friendly to me. Unless you have the kind of relationship where "Peace faggot" is the way you talk to each other all the time, and I've just misread the tone of your conversation.
