Sneaky webmasters? Selling links that are nofollow

Recently I've encountered one that sold a link that nofollow to me, knowing that I've agreed on the link sales based on it is a followed link.

The problem is that the link is a followed when seen from the site, yet made into a nofollow on the cache, is it an intention to mislead then?

    Sneaky! Smelly ...

If you meant Google cache, access the link from another IP and see if it is dofollow or not.
If both times it is dofollow and the cache shows nofollow, probably Google cache just needs to catch up.

I don't think thats the problem, there's a script in the code that turns all links to external

But when my link is placed, it didnt state a nofollow.

there are all kinda crooks out there. i have seen it happening before. also some link exchangers exchange links and get dofollowlinks, but later they turn their partner's links to nofollow. better deal with people with good reputation but thats not always possible

It's been done before - I just don't buy or swap links. I go other routes. I guess I just don't trust many ppl anymore.

You have to be careful with any type of links or services you pay for these days. Lots of scammers out there. I've been scammed 7x on Digital Point alone.

sigh. the worst thing is that the link is not cheap! the site is actually pretty good, so for a valuable link, i definitely won't mind paying, and it's also quite well related.

bummer! a great start to the week, just what the doctor prescribe.

oh, the webmaster yet to get back to me too! trying to either ,
    1. ask for change to dofollow (highly unlikely to happen!)
    2. refund (i'm still going to pay for the amount of time ~ 1 month) for the next 11 months - hah, so stupid of me to purchase for 1 yr eh !
    3. paypal dispute? probably won't win / get a chance, virtual products
