We've had a "Sneaky Redirect" on one of our sites. What can be done about it? Have noticed a dramatic drop in Google and Yahoo ranking as of late, but I just took it as a result of the last updates. Found it while doing a google search for inurl:www.mysite.com. BTW this source below is from Google cache. Couldn't reach the page directly from the search link. Had to go through google cache to see what was going on. It looks like they have hacked another webite (public school) and all the URLS for that site in google cache are redirecting to their site. So how the heck are they doing that?
Report it through Google DMCA. Even though your site content is not technically scraped or copied, the use of your site's content in search results constitutes a copyright violation. Duplicate the search result that shows your content in the search results, show Google how you did this and show them the contents of your website that is being displayed in these results. I've filed many DMCA reports against websites doing exactly this and have had their pages (and sometimes the entire sites) removed from the Google index. Be sure to mention the "sneaky redirect" trick the offending website is using. "www.google.com/dmca.html" Follow the instructions exactly and mail the report. It takes about a month to process.
I'll try that. Just wish there was a quicker way to get it done. I already sent notification to Google of the search results. I can't see that they are "stealing content" other than in a roundabout way. Looks more like they are just stealing PR, but hey, what do I know about all of this? It is redirecting to a foreign job search site through a public school website in google cache. I just don't get it. Thanks for the information pgaz!
