I received two new comments about a minute after I published an article, both saying nearly the same thing, but with two different names and two different sites in the url box. Is this an attempt to get me to approve the comments, so that they can later spam me? The whois on both users is the same. Comment 1: "I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you. Aaron Wakling Comment 2: "I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future. Stacey Derbinshire
This is a good way to sneak into your comment section. Mark them as spam so that you can help out the community using Akismet.
I only accept comments that don't look like cut n paste jobs, especially anything like the ones you posted above.
yes, sneaky, eh? along with Akismet get Comment Timeout and Simple Trackback Validation using these 3 plugins for WordPress will help you virtually eliminate comment spam
If the IP addresses are the same, then I would assume that they are spam, particularly if they list their own website or have registered as usres, rather than an anonymous post.
