The other day I checked the links to a CB affiliate link and it was a different page & offer that I'd posted a link to. I clicked back and did it again and just like I'd suspected it was a rotator. It had like 3 different offers. NOW the problems are this. Number 1 if my text link is linking to the page it is no longer targeted because they are going to different products. SECONDLY and MORE upsetting for me is AM I GETTING PAID FOR ALL THIS??? If my CB link is sending visitors to this page for that particular product am I going to be getting paid for the rotating pages?? Are they cheating me out of sales?! Seems sneaky to me, but I'm not sure. What do you think? Another thing I was wondering about CB is the ones with EMAIL CAPTURE forms ESPECIALLY email capture ONLY. Are they going to pay me the sale when the lead buys the product or are they going to simply put their CB link in and get all the profits? UNFAIR if so my efforts would be going to waste. Anybody have any thoughts on this or clarification? I hope it's not really like this.
As for the link rotator, you should get paid for sales that you send to their site. I would contact the publisher and ask them if there is a url parameter you could put in that would land them on a certain page pertaining to your offer. If no, ask them if they could build one in (it wouldn't be that hard for them to do I know). You shouldn't lose sales from sending them to different pages.. but use your aff link and try to buy it. If the [affiliate = none] is at the bottom of the pay page than they're stealing your sales. As for the email capture... I would sign up to their newsletter and see whether they're using their affiliate link in it. I don't personally do it, but I know publishers that do. It's a sneaky tactic and my affiliates would probably lose 75% of their sales if I did that; however, after 60 days your aff cookie will be gone, and I'm sure that some of my affiliates lose a couple sales because my email campaign is 6 months long; however, there's nothing I can do about that (unless clickbank lengthens the cookie duration). Hope this helps.
Thanks for this advice. I didn't even notice the affiliate id at the bottom of the pay page. I did it and to my surprise now it won't rotate for me anymore maybe I clicked too many times. That's strange because I know that it was rotating as I was pulling my hair out over it. So that means I can't really test it to find out any longer. Just because it's not rotating today doesn't mean it won't rotate tommorrow. I'll check again in 24 hours. This is a problem as affiliates are busting their butts trying to get sales and now we have to worry about getting all of our sales. I try not to promote the ones with the email capture but soooo many of them have it (good common sense on their part) BUT they don't have my id getting credit. Plus you can't stop publishers from changing their pages. Hard to keep an eye on the textlinks every day. I did see the newsletter that I signed up for had my ID when I clicked around from a link to another CB site of hers. I did have credit on the original page (that was linked to the site) probably from cookies but I didn't have credit for one of the numerous sites she was promoting in the email. AND to top it off the original site URL wasn't even in the email itself, I had to find it on the site that had a link to all of her sites. Sheesh. Are there any publishers that just have ONE solid product that I can trust is not going to cheat me out of my sale and that gives credit where it is due at ALL times? It's frustrating because I am working very hard to get hits to my site and now I have to deal with this.
