HEy everyone, I am pretty new to this so I ask

I've recently spotted an expiring domain, it was PR3 and I needed it for personal uses. I knew the expiration date and was ready to get it. I don't know how but now it's registered with , I am 100% sure I couldn't register it the same day it was registered, how did they do ? Why do they have this privileges?

Domains don't become available for registration the day they expire - depending on the TLD it can be 2-4 months before the "drop" (become available to public registration again) - and for valuable domains usually there a dropcatcher service (such as Snapnames) registers it within a few seconds.

I think your better off trying to find a new one and setting up your site. You can look for domain names and try to get a deal but alot of companies buy expiring names and try to sell them for more money.

yeah I see, but how could they register it? I tried and it said "locked".

so there is no way to get an expiring domain with PR ?

Dropcatching services became what they are because they possess the technology to dropcatch the domain names.

There is very little chance someone hand regging a domain name can beat a service to it, unless the name is no good or they are very very very lucky to the nth degree.

Besides services, there are also many domainers who have scripts running for them trying to catch the best names.
