Snapnames and Pool useless for expiring domains?

So lately, for new inspiration for finding niches and building sites, I've been looking through expiring domain lists and trying to find some good names to build some sites around.

Everything that I've read says snapnames, pool, and enom (now namejet) are the places to scoop up expiring domains. You put in a backorder on the expiring domain, and then if there are more than one person with a backorder on that domain, it goes to auction.

In the past month I've put in backorders on about 75 domains. About 30 of them have gone to auction on namejet. 1 has gone to auction on snapnames, and 1 on pool. I've gotten no other email updates from snapnames or pool, other than the one auction on each.

    So, my questions are two-fold.

    1. where are all the other half of the domains going that are not going to auction on any of these sites?
    2. Is Namejet really *that* much better at scooping expiring domains than snapnames and pool? Everything I'd read had said that pool typically grabbed the most, but it's gotten completely smoked in my experience. 1 out of 75? Really?
