    Hey everyone

Is anyone here doing sms marketing? It is basically text message blasting to peoples cell phones. Simple enough. I would love to know your guys thoughts about it and also the service(s) that you use. Let's talk!

    Thank you

It depends on your Niche to be very honest. SMS marketing can be very helpful if you're targeting a small niche, such as a city of a small community. However if you're looking to target a much bigger audience (Example: Country wide) I would NOT recommend it at all. I would stick to some more serious methods.

However if the aim is to generate traffic from the entire world, I would stick to search engines for this.

I done it with some big clients for brand awareness or event promotion but never used it to direct sell.

SMS Marketing is growing. Especially since according to Nielsen and Gartner research, there 223 million cell phones and they are expected to pass the number of PC's in the home. So, with text messaging you can reach your customer base when they are out of the house and can also reach them in a timely manner. For example, if you're a restaurant, you can send your free lunch offer, right before lunch, when they are hungry and thinking about lunch.

I use a SMS provider that allows me unlimited msgs and the ability to create an optimized mobile site. But, what I really love about SMS, is that even people with the lower end phones can receive them. You don't have to have a smart phone. This way, you don't reduce your audience to just people with the advanced cell phones.

I think SMS gateway will be very expensive, right? it will be different story if we know who is the person we are going to send the message...

This is the second time today that I've seen a post about SMS marketing. Some customers feel its very intrusive and get irritated by it, where as email marketing isn't intrusive, you can put much more content in it and you can link it to your website.

I think SMS marketing is good but still i won't put much hope on it as SMS marketing makes the customers or viewers feel irritated . U will surely get few customers but only few majority will feel best to ignore u . So if i was u , i would put more emphasis on social media .
