It is a consideration to not infringe upon freedom of speech as well ... if you ban smoking, than you open the door to ban things like speaking against the government and things that could lead to an oppressive environment ... the trick is to make people not want to be morally or socially irresponsible by calling them on their actions and to do so, you need a lot of people to respond to the issue publicly in a way that makes Bollywood feel like their sales migt be impacted if they do not placate their audiences ... that requires a lot of mobility and a dedicated person on the issue to take a lead to make that happen ... it is probably a lifetime commitment!
Well, atleast we can expect less drunken driving in the country, since SRK appeared in an AD saying, do not drink and drive.
But sadly the ad was of an alcohol company. What he did was promoted the alcohol and asked not to drink it while driving. Does not make much sense.
I think that it does make sense - if someone like SRK says don't drive, some people might lend more thought to the dangers of driving while under the influence on some kind of subconscious level. At the same time he is promoting drinking, but it could be said that he is also promoting responsibility while drinking as well. My two cents on an intriguing topic!
