I've heard of SMO (Social Media Optimization) technique, but I'm not so sure about how it works in achieving higher SERP-- (And please explain the social netwrkng sites which gives result) please help me,
SMO is not directly linked to SEO. It is a method of promoting your website via various online platforms such as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Orkut, Xing etc. It helps to create brand awareness and bring traffic to your website from various other sites. If your website provides something useful you will witness great surge in traffic via these websites are this technique is viral in nature. Some industry people say that Google counts your presence on various social media platforms while deciding the relevancy but there isn't any official declaration. Also, just having a social media profile does not help. You will have to engage with your audiences. Regards
SMO is not directly related with SEO but It help in making your website popular, If you are lucky enough then you can get lots of natural backlinks to your website.
SMO is guided by real people (mostly, however, you will get people who will promise you of getting 50k fan in facebook in 7 days flat) and not by robots The biggest advantage about SMO is any one can do it, its not as mysterious as SEO. You get the result in the very first day (mostly) and donot have to wait (sandbox etc), everyone knows that SMO is free, well basic SMO is free but advanced SMO is not free and we already see many agencies (including existing SEO firms) have started offering services around SMOs. The nature (till now) is mostly organic, if one can become popular by god's grace (or hard work backed up enough niche industry knowledge) loads of traffics will freely flow into your website, people will follow you, will ask suggestions from you, will invite you to speak in weekend events etc etc. In terms of link building inbound links are important for SEOs, for SMOs its probably not. Also, you dont have to do HTMIL like SEO to hit it with SMO. Your knowledge (long term) and visual presentation, asthetics (short term) will do the trick fot you in SMO They can be complementary to each other too, better SMO will give you better SEO and vice versa You can build a society around your SMOs, you can do the same with SEO also.
Ok I forgot to tell you this, by doing some SMO you may get some instant traffic, but then you need to see, are you putting your effort for this? You need to realize this traffic will die down pretty soon, and you can not go on doing the same trick day after day, because your site will be blocked by those sites for violating their rules. The best thing would be look at it from long term perspective.
