SMF file Forum transfer... I have done something.

OK, so I purchased an SMF forum that was fairly active.

Domains were transferred to me, I forward the DNS to my server.

    Put Forum in maintenance mode.

Backup all files into a zip on my computer.

Backup and restore SQL database to new server.

The new server I am using has a domain name registered to it. I put an addon domain for the new domain. So now the files will be under "home"/public_html/newdomain.com

So now I am in panelbox of my new server and I am trying to get the files to upload. Do I just "restore a backup"? Will it automatically know to go into my home "home"public_html/newdomain.com

I no longer have access to the old files as I have been locked out of the old server.... I only have the one zipped backup.

    Any feedback is appreciated!

use ftp to upload your backup to the correct folder, then use the file manager in cpanel to extract it. pick out the files you want to save and dump the rest.

don't use backup restore, you might end up porking your original site.
