Smarty Template Editing

Is there such a thing as a wysiwyg editor for Smarty templates? Whilst I can code normal HTML, I'm not used to stylesheets, and certainly not used to editing Smarty.

Smarty templates can be edited in any wysiswyg editor, as long as you leave the smarty tags alone it shouldn't matter where you edit it in.

I've tried editing them in Dreamweaver MX, but the problem is it's worse than editing in Notepad if anything. The design preview looks absolutely nothing like the finished page.

Is it because of what Smarty adds content wise? Or runtime CSS changes/additions? Because as far as I know Dreamweaver renders static pages quite close to what they end up looking like.

I'm trying to modify phpLink Directory templates. It may well be because of the php content and the fact that every page is made up of, I think, at least 3 templates (header, footer and content). So far, the only method I've found of editing them and seeing what they look like is by performing the edit, then uploading the template and refreshing the relevant page. Time consuming, and not very efficient.

Could set it up locally on your PC, xampp or some similar package, edit the templates directly, and once you're satisfied with the result you can upload it online.

That's the sort of thing I'm trying to do, but I didn't really know how to go about it. I tried setting it up as a site in Dreamweaver, but that didn't work. I don't suppose there's some sort of wysiwyg site editor for Smarty that could either be set up on the site or on my PC?

The only other way I can think of is building the site from scratch, then breaking it into templates.

Hello, our site at vdo.kcpa-tv.com needs someone to put search by zip code, Adsense, and a google street map into the Global template. Replace the header logo.

How much would you charge or would you tell me how to do it? Please respond directly to: me@doctormason.us

    Thanks,

    Fair enough. :)

Did you look at Emacs? It has all you need, including html helper, html/php helper, css, and smarty modes.

    cheers,

You can search for Dreamweaver extensions for Smarty Templates and download.
I tried doing that but I did not have much luck. perhaps I need to somehow setup mysql on my computer.
