Do you track your ads with channels? Sometimes that helps establish a baseline on what is and is not performing well. It is so hard not to just start throwing $$ at it when earning s are low, I used to increase my adword campaigns to try and make up for lost ground. Now I just leave it alone, and when earnings are high I up the ad spending. Download that tool, it is great.
sigh... I am also hit by the smart pricing. Now price drop from like almost 10US$ to 2US$ for the same period of time and same amount of clicks... :s
I used to do that, but now with 5 different sites running, I removed all channels - way to much work to track them all. Also, everyone is saying that channel tracking does not help battling the smart pricing. I am going to try the AdLogger tool for ad tracking. Looks like a great tool. I would do that. Thanks.
Hi, you need to have channels working in G and compare the data in Adlogger before you can pinpoint which are the low paying ads. If you remove the channels in G, there is nothing you can use in Adlogger if there is more than 1 click to trace. Adlogger will show you which ad the user clicked and on which page the ad is. By comparing the G channels and Adlogger, you can pinpoint which is which if you have 3 blocks of ads on that page and more than 1 click on that page.
Thanks ebliss, I think you are absolutely correct, I have to start using the adsense channels again. Thanks for the clarifiation.
