Smart Pricing - Affected by DP?

I was just wondering... I'm sure you all know about smart pricing on adsense. Its that thing where your CPC is diluted for duplicate content. The CPC is diluted across the entire account right. So if we are all sharing revenue (no matter how little) using our adsense account number, does this reduce our cost per click on our normal sites. Think about it, one thread here could be considered content for Shawn, but if Nintendo replies to this thread then adsense could think that he is using this content. So would adsense detect revenue sharing here as duplicate content and dilute our CPC revenue across all of our sites?

    Signs point to no.

If you're concerned about it, you shouldn't partake in the revenue sharing. You won't make more than a couple bucks a month if you're an active poster. At least from what I've seen anyway.

I disabled it for the forums. But I have done so many experiments and things, that I don't know if disabling my adsense ID in DP forums helped or not. I still am curious. I need a proven theory of some sort.

Well if a magic 8-ball isn't good enough then I don't know what is ;)

It's a valid question though. I honestly don't think it would have any effect at all myself.

duplicate content can't be associated with adsense accounts. It is related to domains.

I hate to get into this again, but Smart Pricing has nothing to do with duplicate content. It has to do with whether or not someone who clicks on an ad ends up doing what the advertiser wants them to do (but a product, sign up for a newsletter, etc). So, IF smart pricing is truly account wide, AND Digital point visitors really do not end up buying things after clicking, the yes I could see it having some negative affect. But the number of clicks you typically get from DP would be so small compared to other clicks, I doubt it would have much of an affect. I personally am not worried about it.

Yes dup content is definately nothing to do with adsense smartpricing.

Perhaps it had to do with adsense sites targetting high paying keywords, so smart pricing was google's answer.

Hence why so many people are swapping to other networks

Yes, I have checked with AdSense teams and they say that dup content is nothing to do with adsense smartpricing.

So does duplicate content have a negative affect on your adsense earnings. Like if we create a site with content based on free article sites like those from isnare.com will we earn maximum revenue?

This is just my own personal speculation, but for what it's worth...

When I put adsense on my second site, the first site maintained it's earnings. (I only have adsense on two sites). The second site saw a boost in earnings a little over a year into operation. It was relatively significant and when I saw the numbers go up I thought that maybe my traffic levels had changed - but for the most part they had not.

I've heard about others who started new sites and saw their revenue decrease accross the board, but I haven't actually seen any actual evidence myself.

Adsense revenue is so haphazard that I don't think it should be relied upon. As a webmaster you have relatively little control over what gets displayed, what the cost is, and what the advertisers perceive as value.

From google's perspective, they want to maximize their revenue and keep advertisers happy - so I would expect the smart pricing logic to change over time in order to continually provide their advertisers with the best perceived value and to provide their marketers with a reasonable pay scale.

I would think that if you have adsense up on one account on 300 low quality websites you will probably be permanently smart-priced. But if you have it up on 50 high quality sites you may never see smart pricing.

As far as DP goes, I've never seen any change in revenue as a result of participating in the program. As an adwords advertiser in the niches I run adsense in, I feel like I get a reasonable cut from what I can tell. Less than I would like, but reasonable.
