Smart priced or economical crisis?

    Hi,

From late October I see a continuous drop in my earnings although my stats aren't so different from previous months.

For example on good months I had an average of 8000 impressions with 35 clicks, 0,50 CTR and 0,70 eCPM. These resulted in about $5.5/day. Now with the same impressions and clicks and almost the same CTR but the half eCPM I have the half revenue. I hadn't changed the placement in my site and I continue the content feeding as always. My visitors are targeted as I am well placed in Google and I have an active forum.

Of course I don't tell that I make my living from Adsense but I was satisfied as my niche is not so competitive. However the last two months I can't find what is going on and how I can return to my previous earnings.

So I ask the experts here in DF to give me some ideas
    Thanks in advance.

forums aren't really targeted, and they usally get smart priced pretty fast, the issue is that regular users ignore the ads, pushing down the ctr, so google gives you lower preforming ads.

maybe try affilate ads etc if possible.

Although the forum is a big part in my site is not the biggest. Yes, you are right about the regular visitors and I have to bring more in there. But can the same stats (except the half eCPM) results in such a drop?

    Thanks,

Yes. Put yourself in the adwords advertisers position. Their budget, as well as how much they are willing to bid on keywords fluctuates. As a result, you should expect your earnings to fluctuate. Maybe the last couple months, in your sites topic area, the advertisers have pulled back. As a result, your epc drops. At the same time, I'm sure you've had blockbuster days, weeks and/or months - same thing. The advertisers for your site increased their bids.

From what I've seen, accounts getting "smartpriced" get their revenue cut by 90%, not just 50%.

    I betcha it bounces back.

    Dimoss,

To answer you question: i think both smart pricing and crisis are guilty...
I bet that with the crisis the smart pricing algo has been adjusted to kick in faster...
