smaller backup files, weird!

    after server change my backups became 30% less! what could be the reason? is gzip that smaller?

    I had 170mb backups and now its only 120, what could be the other reason? loosing data?

    I didn't have gzip before... that's the only change :S

    Yes, that very likely is the reason as .sql .php .html etc files, emails, logs and so on are nothing but text and text can be compressed quite much. :)
