i have started a business directory for a small town. the town has many businesses so that won't be a shortage.

now, the question is how much should i charge for ads? i know the traffic is the most important part when it comes to deciding on pricing but what do you think is a good initial price for ads on such a site?

    thanks

You need to base it on how must local visitors you get.

As far as I know, there are size format for ad pricing. Let say 468×60, 120×600 and 125×125. I guess you need a brief overview regarding to this matter.

i know the traffic is a factor. i also have only two sizes and two banners per category. one on the top and one on the side.

my problem is that i am starting now and i need to come up with prices so that i'm ready once people start asking me for advertising opportunities. even without any traffic i need a price list to begin with.

i also don't want to be very cheap such as $10/month because that makes the directory look cheap but i also understand that i can't charge people $500/month because i'm new.

    appreciate your time!
