Small "thumbnail" banners for my sponsors - can't get them to look right.

Hi everyone, could you please check out my site? At the left of every page I have small banners for my site sponsors. They love this feature of our advertising, they get a link on thousands of different pages (according to google, i think it's inflated).

However, I hate the way they look. I've tried them smaller and I've tried them bigger - does anyone have an example of how they deal with these types of banners? Any ideas for a CSS drop shadow or frame that would inprove the look? Right now I have two sizes that I'm experimenting with, but I think my final size will be somewhere between the two. Eventually the same size will be on all pages.

    Thanks for some ideas!

I wonder about trying a gradation of color going from black to a lighter color something like Shawn does on th keyword tracker page. I truly never know whether I will like something unil I try it and then start tweaking to make it look better. If you conntrol the art for all your banners am sure you can make something quite pleasing.
