    I don't see any small images near the menu - but the page never actually finishes loading - even while I've been making screenshots and typing!

    It is not displaying the images. Probably because you are using a crap mockup instead of posting a link to a live page. The mockup scripting just gets in the way of diagnostics. If you don't have a real page, then worrying about presentation before having it working is a backward approach.

    You need to resolve the path to the images; either they need to be on the mockup site, or the path need to point to their location on your server. Or even better set up the page on your server so you are dealing with the real world instead of an emulation
