Slow Vistax64 Boot Time on New Computer

I've recently put together a new computer using these parts:

    E8400 CPU @ 3.6 Ghz
    Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R with latest BIOS
    2 x 2 GB Corsair TwinX4096-6400C5 DDR 2 800 mhz
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 in IDE mode?

I've updated to Vista Ultimate SP1, run multiple disk clean ups, defrags, use CCleaner, clean the registry, defrag the registry, disabled services and have made tweaks according to the guide provided on this website and have minimal startup programs running but my boot times average around 2 minutes. For a new computer with new hardware, this seems unreasonable as many users report boot times between 30-60 seconds.

Is this normal or is there something wrong with my computer? On the vista loading screen with the green bar, it goes through about 22 cycles.

Everything is fine, I suspect your hard drive "Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 in IDE mode?" why don't you try SATA HDD.

For an instance, I have Intel P4 Dual Core 3.0, 945GNT, 4GB - Vista x64 Ultimate performance Index 4.8 will your believe it.

    Try changing your hard drive.

yeah vista is a slower loading OS thats one of its problems in my view, i would look to downgrading to XP 64 or you can wait till windows 7 and see what happends

There is probably nothing wrong with your computer but rather with Windows Vista. Why your computer takes longer with better hardware that other is a question of hardware and operating system compatibility. Windows programmers have quite a difficult task to buile OS that would work on a million different components. So sometimes there are problems reflecting in slower performance no matter how fast components you have.
My advice is either you buy solid state drive (vertex, A-DATA XPG) or switch to upcoming Windows 7 or XP. That's it buddy. Probably no one told how important is actually fast HDD. Much more than CPU to tell you the truth.
If you decide to go for SSD make sure the one you buy does contain jMicron 602A controller - it is deffective. Go for one that has jMicron 602B or jMicron RAid controller or even Samsung or Intel controller. That is it man.

there are a few tips and tricks you can use to otimize booting time

    1. type msconfig on run and remove all teh unneede entries from startup tab ( removing an entry does not mean that you are removing the program it just means tha tyou are not starting the programme as soon as you are starting teh computer)

by default tabs in startup are NOT requird to bootup.
you can also use this FREEWARE app to make your computer go superfast, it says compatible with xp, but i assume it is also compatible with vista..

I actually have the exact same setup as the OP. Just my E8400 at 3GHZ stock and after 2 months of installing crap it won't take more than 60 seconds until everything is fully responsive.
