Check your cpu usage .From there check what program is taking memory. There may be some background program running. Use msconfig to disable unnecessary startup programs. You have enough processor power and ram to run programs. Or if nothing work do a clean installation of xp.
Get a Mac. The only true multitasking operating system is OSX. You can run 10 programs on 1GB of RAM and burn CDs without it ever crashing. Even older macs are faster than some of the newer decked out PCs. Windows has major flaws in its design, it gets slower and slower no matter what you do and regardless of how much GB of RAM you keep adding to it. It just plain sucks. I used to work with PC for about 15 years until I switched to Apple and never looked back. Ever since I did I have a lot more hair on my head. (Since I stopped pulling them out while working with Windows)
First try use some anti virus I can't prefer you one. Because I want you to decide what do you think is the best for your computer. Second if you have fully scanned your computer defrag your hard disk. To sort up your files whisch processing of your Hard disk and stop the slow ups. ______________________________________________________________ If this still didn't help uninstall all component of you computer. Like reseting them. If still it doesn't work then reformat is the last option. Try to use a simple service pack like XP service pack 2. Then look for a good ANTIVIRUS. I just heard a good site that give advice on deciding and what to do in terms of System security this is the site http://www.systemsecurityinstitute.org if you sign up to their Weekly news letter they'll give you useful info to help you. Try it out.
- Virus scan your computer (with a good Virusscan: Kaspersky / Bitdefender / Avast) - Empty the prefetch folder.
Reformat is not really a solution to every problem on computers but rather a last resort if other options do not work. If your computer is slowing down, the first thing I would do is check the ram if it is properly placed on the slot. Not only the RAM but also other parts, make sure they are well fitted into the slot. Next thing would be checking for any virus, malware, spyware that might be causing the problem. Make sure your anti virus is updated and working. Next is defrag your disk files might be so scattered, this takes time on finding the right thing for the right time. Get also a reg cleaner that will help you optimize the registry and fix any errors. issuing a "checkdsk c: /r" would be applicable also.
A few more options:- -If your desktop is cluttered more any icons/programs that don't NEED to be there -Delete temporary files -Check how much space you have left on the c drive -Check your performance settings Control Pannel-System-Performance tab -Run task manager to see if anything is hogging CPU -If you have a large desktop wallpaper switch to a single-colour background -Remove any unwanted startup processes -stop and set to manual any services you don't need -run chkdsk -f -remove norton av or mcafee if you have them installed and install avg -re-install windows xp service pack 3 if none of the above work
Because there must be problem with the registry being full of malwares. Read this site's blog it'll might help you out on how to clean your registry. http://securityblogs.systemsecurityinstitute.org/node/8
hello friends, i have a problem.when i install window vista . my system is auto restar.but not install window vista.only window xp can run .help me
Are you listening to the CD and trying to copy song from it? That will slow down your I/O from the CD/DVD-ROM as ti only has one laser to read with and your asking it to read two streams.
I find Tuneup Utilities to have an extensive list of applications... But really, you'll find Linux or Mac OS X a lot faster.
Your computer configuration is good enough to run speedy. You have to do the follows: - Full Scan with best anti virus like mcafee, norton etc. -Full scan with male ware software. -Then delete your unnecessary temporary files and folder; -clean your desktop which are not necessary; -defragment your c drive( or where is your system installed) -clean computer with your registry cleaner software; -you should alwyas shut down pc from manually; -use ups not stablizer; -if still you have problem then reinstall your system; -your computer might be slower for using few anti virus software . i don't want to mention and you have to replace; -you should blanck 15% blank for C drive Hope you will be able to overcome your problem. Cheers!!! -
Why don't you try removing extra luggages - unused programs. scan for virus/malware with AVG or reliable commercial anti virus.
You may need to upgrade your memory. Open the programs you usually use. Then run Windows Task Manager. Click on Performance. Look under physical memory. If the Available memory is less then 100,000 then you'll need to upgrade to more memory. Also defrag your hd.
