We just got this for our dialup. It obviously requires and additional authorization to seperate it from the regular dialup. Anybody got any suggestions for configing in Optigold? Means they need 2 log ins - dialup and then slipstream authorization. and then a plan to match it. Our basic is $9.95 per month. Accelerated is an additional $5 per month - how do we configure an add-on service to give the client the additional log on and charge them the extra rate.
Yes we use it. What we did was create a "Personal Account" for non SS and a "Personal Account 2" for SS. The Personal Account 2 is tiend to a group in RAIDUS that has the specific attributes necessary for SS to function, and Personal Account does not. That's about it. Anything else you configure is going to be specific to your particular RADIUS software. As for the additional service, we just have a monthly and yearly SS product which we add to a users billing cycle respectively. We prorate out the difference after 30 days as we offer a 30 day FREE trial of SS.
We use it as well with a billing cycle item that automatically adds the proper radius attribute to the customers profile when they add the product via the web, no need to have additional user names, etc. So they simply add the billing item themselves and then download the file and it seems to work really well. It will depend greatly on your implementation of radius and Opti though. John
okay, sounds simple and fair enough, but how do you 'tie' and account to a group or any other RADIUS attrib.? Having a product/account that has it's own attributes is exactly what we need, but we can't find anywhere for a specific product to have a specific set of attributes. The only way we can see to edit a user's RADIUS profile is using the "Misc. Info." section under "Customer Info" or possibly the "Other" section under "Services". both of these, however, are not 'tied' to a specific product/account, they are customer specific - there is no way that we can see to have a given product provide defaults for these fields. We're so lost on this that it feels like we're overlooking something extreemly simple. If anyone has found the way please let us know.
Thanks again for the suggestion, we deffinatley will be using this for now. As stated it's much better than manually typing in a given field for each customer since the choice has to be made at the time you add the product. It is, however, still a fudge. If this can be done -properly- (attribute tied to the plan itself and and a default value can be specified so that you add the product and *boom* the attribute is magically exported to the profile) we are eager to learn of it. If, however, things are actually as they seem and there is no way to do this we humbly submit it as a feature request for the new Optigold. In Rodopi (the unweildly beast from hell that all should fear and never use) this was about the olny part of the architechture we liked. Everything was put togethr in a modular way, though with sometie confusing names. In Rodopi a plan had items, which in turn had details. So from a set of details one could build items and then plans to suit any need. More pertinent to our problem, one could define any number of RADIUS profiles and in a plan choose a given RADIUS profile as its default. So one would build a RADIUS profile for SlipStream that had the Group bits defined in it, create a plan/product for Sliptream service and choose the Slipstream RADIUS profile as the plan's default. No messy bits to worry about. Just add the plan and watch the RADIUS magic. The default profile was just a template used to generate the Customer's RADIUS profile that would be inserted in the RADIUS file/db of course, so manual changes could always be made to the values in the customer's profile if they were ever needed. Thanks again.
There is not much to it. I have "Personal Account" and "Personal Account 2". Personal Account is tied to a group on our RADIUS server called "Personal Account", that group has the appropriate attributes set for all users that are listed in that group. We also have a group in RADIUS called "Personal Account 2" that has an additional attribute for SS. So when we select the account type/status of "Personal Account 2" in OG, the user is added to the "Personal Account 2" group in RAIDUS which has SS enabled. If they are listed in OG as "Personal Account", they are put in the group on our RADIUS server for Personal Account, which has NO SS. It's pretty much that simple.
The server events can do what you are looking for, just create events based on the plan the customer buys.
