Slicing/coding images into templates

This is something I'd love to be able to do. I'm toying with the idea of buying a cheap .psd template on here (no pm's selling them please) and having a crack at slicing/coding. The thing is, I'm not sure if I'd be a bit out of my depth, are there any tutorials to help me?

You can either approach coding with div's or using tables. I used to work with tables a lot but now I am approaching the div's for using css styles.

Divs are better but a bit harder to use.
