Slicing a psd, png

What is the best way to go about slicing a psd, png to html / css?

Special programs geared toward this?

I am more a developer and novice to design aspects.

 

You can slice right in photoshop...save all the images to your "images" directory and go from there with whatever text editor you use.

you can also link slices to urls in photoshop (good for myspace/soundclick layouts) ..

 

You don't necessarily need to use the slice tool. I find saving a backup of my Photoshop file then cropping each image out one by one works the best. I never could get to grips with slicing.

 

I always use the marquee & crop tools in photoshop, you can make sure everything is pixel perfect that way
