slices in photoshop

i have a question, i am just learning how to create a website via slices in photoshop, i have my page uploaded now, but it seems to be loading in segments, maybe i notice because of a slow 56k modem, but it looks tacky, is there a way around this?

1. Get a cable modem

2. The slices will load quicker if you reduce the file size of the slices by using compression methods

3. I don't even see slices being used on your site. The header is just one big image.
