Sleeping problem

    Hi,

I've always had sleeping issues but this one has been taking the cake. Normally if I am really tired because I've been up for 20hrs or something I'll only sleep for like 5hrs - Ima kinda use to that even though I don't understand it. If I goto bed when I'm not exhausted I'll sleep for like 8-10hrs. This makes no sense but whatever.

So the problem is recently I've been waking up at 3:30am almost like clock work. This of course leaves me totally tired though the day. This has been happened for like a week now and it's getting kind of lame.

I don't like taking medicine and there is pretty much no way I'm taking sleeping pills. I've known enough ppl who did and heard their stories (doesn't sound like fun).

So - anyone else have any issues like this ? Besides pills what did you do ? I think part of the reason I'm getting up is cause it's too warm but 3:30am every morning is kinda weird.

    Thoughts?

Waking up at 3-30 might be a little over the top, but you will be surprised if I told you that most of the yoga gurus recommend waking up at 4-5 am. Early to bed, early to rise - why dont you go to bed at 9-10?

Also, contrary to what most doctors suggest, the optimal sleeping time is 5-6 hours, not 8-9 hours.

how did you wake up? Dream? going to pee or just wake up and can't sleep no more. Do you feel pain or short of breath when you wake up?

I recommend the early to bed, early to rise thing with about 7 hours of sleep and a fairly active day. Perfect for a nights sleep and the whole day will be spent awake.

Hey Noobie...reading your words is like I wrote them...lol

I feel the same. I think first we are getting sick because this called Internet...and I dont know you...but I have also childrens that woke in the middle of the night.

The best I have tried as someone said here before is to go to sleep 9 or 10 pm and then wake up on 5...thats the best-.

If you cant sleep at 10 try before to drink a cup of wine...will help.

I have been having sleep problems lately. Right now I'm sitting here and my eyes feel so heavy. If I go to bed and try to sleep, I cant. I dont know if its cause of the irregular sleep but I get easily stressed now. I feel like I'm always half awake/half asleep.

sleeping pills generally don't put you to sleep, but once your a sleep you usually will stay asleep.

Some of the natural ones with valerian root don't have any bad effects in the morning. $10 at a vitamin store,

I wouldn't worry about it. Don't force yourself to sleep. You will sleep when you need to.

You just can't get BACK to sleep sometimes...which sounds like what's happening to you. Nothing to worry about. This usually happens to me when I have too much on my mind and at the slightest hint of consciousness my mind fills up with a lot of curiosity, plans, worries etc, which is very often these days.

Poor sleeping issues may be related to a toxic diet and lifestyle. If you are toxic, and most people are it can affect your nervous system and the centers in the brain that regulate sleep. Do a detox.
I recommend this book, "21 pounds in 21 days. The Martha Vineyard's Detox diet"
    get it on amazon
Meanwhile there is a homeopathic remedy called Neurexan from Heel Homeopathics. Any health food store that sells Heel products, and many do, can special order it for you. You won't regret it.

First off thanks to everyone who replied.

I think it's the "stuff on the mind thing". With Christmas here I've been under a lot more stress than normal. I got some valurm(sp) root and will probably try that.

Personally I think going to bed early and waking up @ 4:30am or 5am is awesome - I love it.
However 3:30am is a little extreme.

Thanks again for all the replies everyone, I'll respond directly to the other past later.

Chamomile (spelling?) Tea is supposed to be good for insomnia.

I went on sleeping pills for a short period of time (about a month) to help regulate my sleeping and it worked great.
