    Wouldn't it be simpler if they just rejected Islam and converted to Christianity or nothing at all?

    Except when you don't accept you are an apostate and killed for that. Gee, agree or be killed. Islam seems to like to threaten people with death to get them to comply and go along with Islam. Of course you accept - YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.
