recently my boss sent me a message saying that he was interested in adding a page to our site which allows people to call our sales staff with skype. I though thats a good idea lets see how i can do it. Now to be clear we dont want people to use land lines to call, this is just a skype call idea. I started searching on the net and found only call centers that were for call in, which connects a normal land line phone call to a skype account. This wasnt what i wanted, i did find one japanese company who seemed to be able to do what i wanted but it was fairly expensive. Anyhow i kind of gave up told my boss it was fairly difficult to do. I said we could create one skype account and have the standard skype button on a page. The button will automatically change between to a different status. This was a simple solution. Today i was having a brainstorm and came up with a php program that detects if a user is online or not. If they are online it pops out the image with the call script, and otherwise it does nothing. Anyhow i was wondering if this is useful for anybody else. Basically the idea is if the sales staff is online to receive calls from skype then they should set their status to online then they'll show up on the website. If they're set to anything else then nothing will show up
