Skype Payments Made Illegally through my Paypal

Yesterday I logged into my mail box and was shocked to find four mails from Paypal saying that payment of $54.44 (actual payment was in Euro...4 consecutive payments of 10 EUR) was made to Skype(billing@skype.net)

I logged into my account to find that on that very date, somebody had authorised my Paypal Account to pay to Skype. I panicked and immediately cancelled the Billing Agreement. Moreover I found that someone had logged around 51 minutes before me in my Paypal to authorise the payments.

I have changed the passwords/security questions and checked that all other my particulars are safe.

Also filed a chargeback and send a mail to asking to refund.

I have never used Skype in my life!

What should I do further to get back the refund? Do you think paypal will resolve the chargeback dispute in my favor?

    Hello,
I was just about to post the same thing here on DP.
Exactly the same incident happened to me yesterday. Same Amount and Same way Skype Accounts were created with my paypal funds.
I have asked for chargeback from paypal. And Informed Skype regarding the transaction Ids.
This seems to be a serious problem.
My Complete account was nulled.+ Transaction was made from my Credit Card attached with my paypal.
I have now removed my cc details from paypal and at the same time I received a Failed transaction report from Skype.
It was fortunate that I was online at the time this hacker was doing fraud. And I timely removed my cc. Or else the damage would be much much more.....
From the Failed transaction report, it is clear that the account are from Skype Chinese account.

if people here have any advice please put in here so that we can do the needful.

Paypal has removed limitation but I am still worried about no refunds from Skype. Skype did replied but they asked me to file chargeback which was already filed. Still no refund. Maybe I need to wait till Monday.

Can you guys share some more light on this? Like any sign-ups or transactions that you had done during these days that might have exposed your paypal or anything as such?

Nope....infact I delete spam looking mails immediately without even opening them. I never click on suspicious links. I don't know how my paypal account got hacked. But am relieved to get it back. Am still waiting for refunds.

I would say be careful with these PTCs. I think when they ask for your paypal account and they will try to find out what your password is based on your password you have created on their site.

there are a lot of scam PTCs so be careful. I think that's where it is coming from.

I still have my 40 dollars in paypal so I guess it is fine for now.

Yeah...that maybe possible. I don't remember any particular PTC...but I had signed onto some sites long time back and I usually give my paypal id to such sites. Well ..thnx a lesson learnt..always insert paypal id if you are assured of good returns from that site. Until then, don't tell your paypal id.
