And i need some advice. I have been targeting very competitive keyphrases since january (in the credit card niche). So far, I have been very slow about my link building methods, totaling ~230 external links (that are indexed) to my site (all relevant to my keyphrase though). I now have enough resources to do "unlimited" links within a single month. I am reluctant to scale up my efforts though. Currently, I am building 3-15 links a day. The reason I am reluctant, is that the links that I have gotten have already increased my site from pr n/a to pr 3 (index) and 2 (internal) for the entire site after the last update. My main keyphrase has a competition of around 1.3 million for the exact match (i am 24th in exact match) and the broad match (no quotes) 53 million (which I am currently number 31). After this last update though, the longtail variants (which i was ranking 1st for) are now getting me no traffic (these longtails are not related to my primary keyphrase, and are ranking page 2-3 now). I have added a bunch of content, targeting 11 more keyphrases (separate pages) The articles that I plug in are "high quality" 1200 word articles. I plan on adding a minimum of 10 (minimum) articles (of this quality, every month). I HAVE NOT YET DONE (but plan well before the next PR update) external article marketing (article directories) 1. press releases 2. blog commenting 3. podcasts 4. video 5. rss feeds So, few of questions: Should I continue hunting the whale, and put my efforts primarily in the high-traffic key phrase? OR Should I concentrate first on getting my traffic back from my other keyphrases? (this was worth $2-$8 / day) Should I get links from pr n/a and pr 0 sites as well? (currently I am only building links from pr1+) Are there any tricks or methods that would be good to implement at this stage? (ie: certain press releases) I know that too many links in a short time can hurt you. is this too many links to your entire domain? or is this too many links to a single page? If it is per page, then i feel that I could comfortably build 50-100 links a day (no additional effort on my part).
