Skills for flipping websites?

I was wondering about what kind of skills you need for flipping sites? I have a basic knowledge in almost everything. But I could not design my own site if I wanted to. Does that hold me back? Is using templates okay too. I would just really like to get into this and was wondering if you needed to have any major skills?

templates are ok. I almost never make my own site, why re-invent the wheel? There are lots of ways to make money, you just need to go get it. If you need to use templates, use them. If you make enough money you can buy custom designed templates right here on DP, then you are the only one that uses them. That way you still have a unique site, but you don't have to do the design. Outsource. :)

You will need to be able make small changes to sites.

You will need skills in content creation, monetizing, and promotion.

You will have to be able to add value to a site to be successful. The best way to do so is to take a site from making $0 to $$ a month. So being able to monetize a site is most important IMO.

Design a good website or a community, generate some nice traffic or at least build a good idea that someone can grow on to a money making site. Then you can flip the site but it has to have a name that is marketable. By the way the link in your sig, It looks like the site has been suspend by hostgator.

of course you can always use wordpress to flip sites. and wordpress supply you with a myriad of templates for free.

again, the main effort here is not in the template but the contents. for you to really earn good money from this, you need to outsource your content writing so you can easily churn out contents in the least possible time.

No it will not hold you back.
You can just hire a designer to code the template for you

In flipping business (same as all other businesses) you need to make maximum money in minimum time. Not only you don't need to design your sites, you must not do it! You cannot afford to waste your time. And never ever pay for your templates or code. There is Wordpress.org and there is http://www.oswd.org/ with loads of basic templates. That's all you need.

Use Wordpress for bigger content driven ideas and templates for smaller sites.

And as akdiver suggested, you may want to make some minor changes to templates, adding some graphics, etc. to give them a personal touch.

In flipping, you don't need skills, you need ideas and you have to be organized.
