TOS says not to change the javascript code, but i have seen quite a few codes of major, really major publishers Skewed. basically telling the Google bot what kind of ads they want. for example: google_ad_client = "pub-x67623x3257x9660"; google_ad_keywords = "software, vista, microsoft"; Has anyone had any exp. or read up on this, can only major pubs. skew their codes like this? or have I spilled the beans on something? I've actually been using something (similar) for awhile . Just saw another method by another major. and thought i'd ask. I
You can use that line only with written permission from google and if you have a really good reason to use it (unrelated ads)
Premium publishers are given a lot of leeway by G on how their ads display. The rest of us would be putting our accounts at risk if we change our AS code.
The sites that are "Premium Publishers" are given the perk of enhanced ad targeting. That is probably how it is done.
i'm sure people that drive in a hell of a lot of traffic are given more leniancy with the adsense TOS.
theres also the people on the unoffical "optimization team" that get there own consultant. And can implement some limited features that the premium publishers get. Pierce
With unrelated ads, you can just use the filter to block those type of ads.. I thought modification of ads wasn't allowed
You are at risk for getting a "banned" e-mail from Google. I'd change it to the original code quick... No modifications are allowed!
There are different "levels" of adsense for different volume publishers. I've seen code that displays as many as 15 ads on a single page! I have also seen a site that is 100% Adsense - no other links at all. Google is not only aware of this site they are encouraging it. TOS applies to the peons and small publishers. Money talks, the big boys get to negotiate their own rules. Google is NOT the Do Gooder Corporate Citizen they portray to the public. They are a BIG CORPORATION who prays to the God of Profits - Just like all Big Corporations.
There are cases where you can't get related ads, those cases are very rare but they can happen and if they happen google has prepared solution for those cases
