Sitewide links vs 1 link per domain

I was doing some research and I was wondering if it is better to get a site wide link meaning a link on every page. Versus 1 link on the highest ranked page. I have seen that site get almost instant pagerank from sitewide links and google counts as many as 100 links from the same site as backlinks.

If you could get backlinks from every page on the linking site would be helpful for SEO, IMO. You would get evidences from blog marketing strategy. :)

    Thanks,

It really depends which search engine you are trying to rank in. Google doesn't like site-wide links as much. Why? They are not natural. Most site-wide links are purchased and that's the reason why. Nothing beats a single page link on a high quality webpage that has content around it.

A single link on the home page is very relevant, instead if there is on all pages gives great importance to the popularity of the site. So in conclusion both would help. I have not heard anyone complain to exchange links sitewide.
