im wondering because i do see some sites with 20 million inbound links and only pr6, and they do have alot of high quality links as there corporate sites. i have almost 2 million and thinking maybe its better to just get 1 link per domain instead of sitewide links so that maybe it doesnt look like too many links in so little time my site = 5 months old almost 2 million links from indexed pages but in something like 50 domains only as most are sitewide links Question #2 what about growth, is it ok to grow super fast? goal is 10 million indexed pages, currently went from 50k indexed to 300k indexed, should i continue or slow down
You want "unique" relevant backlinks, meaning you many links from more than 1 website; regardless if that site has you linked on 10,000+ web pages. It will still be considered a link from one site and most likely Google devaules these types of backlinks.
I had one site with over 30,000 organic links from a sitewide link - plus a hundred or so unique links from other sites. The links made no visible difference to my position to my difference in SERPS and just made it tiresome to keep track of my incoming links. I asked the webmaster to remove the links and suffered no drop in SERPs on Google. I dropped back about 10 places on Yahoo but Google just ignored the loss.
Sitewide links help, but you want to have links from unique domains. The more unique domains, the better. If you're looking at overall linkcount, then sitewide links will definitely increase that significantly.
