sitewide link or homepage

what is better a sitewide link that is on footer,or a homepage link (not sitewide )that is not on footer (higher placement)
and sitewide link is better then just homepage link? will i get more credit form google if i have sitewide link?

Sidewide link may increase your pagerank more but homepage link (or link from any page, especially if it is content link) looks more naturally and search engines will probably give higher value to such links.

 

IMHO a sitewide link may hurt you more than it helps. I would personally get the home page link.

 

I agree with Larry Haywood, except if the site has tons of traffic.

 

Sitewider is better because then you are getting backlinks from all the innner pages.

to OP, I bet you'll never get a proper answer here as no one is sure how search engines react to any particular link.
As for myself, and I think most of the people will agree, it's better to mix the links, thus get some links just from homepage and some sitewide links (don't forget other links like blogs, etc) as it will look more natural.
But don't forget that the links must be from your niche related websites.

 

I had the experience that a Homepage link is better.

 

I'd go with the homepage. Much safer for you.

Both could be beneficial. However, if I were to make a choice I'd go for homepage!
